Safety Council FY26 - October

Join us for our upcoming Safety Council meeting. These monthly meetings take place on the first Thursday of each month at the Neeley Center from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Just a friendly reminder, members of the safety council are required to attend a minimum of 10 meetings during the fiscal year 2026 to qualify for a rebate on their workers' compensation premium.

Topic: Navigating & Avoiding Recordables
This session will start with a clear overview of what qualifies as a recordable incident and highlight recent data showing their impact on business costs. The focus will then shift to practical strategies companies can use to prevent recordables from occurring and, when they do happen, steps to reduce their financial consequences.

Speaker: Fred Garcia, P.T. Services Rehabilitation 
Fred Garcia is a licensed physical therapist with more than 30 years of experience. A graduate of Bowling Green State University in conjunction with the Medical College of Ohio, he has worked across a wide range of settings including outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine, inpatient and outpatient rehab, acute care, and long-term care. He has also served as a sports care provider in several school systems.

Fred’s expertise includes biomechanical assessment, injury screening, treatment, and educational programming, with extensive experience in industrial rehabilitation at manufacturing sites throughout Northwest Ohio.

In addition to clinical practice, Fred spent three years (1998–2001) as a full-time instructor and Academic Clinical Coordinator of Education (ACCE) for the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Professional Skills Institute. He has also taught courses such as Exploring Mind-Body Connections at Terra State Community College and has led wellness education programs and in-services for organizations including the Lucas County Sheriff’s Office, the Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce, Genoa Kiwanis, and area senior centers.
