The heart of Gibsonburg will be bursting with community spirit, youth entrepreneurship, and fresh-squeezed lemonade on Saturday, July 12, as the Great Big Gibsonburg Lemonade Stand returns to Williams Park. This free, family-friendly event brings dozens of youth-run lemonade stands together in one place, celebrating creativity, small-town pride, and summertime fun.
Inspired by the Gibsonburg staff’s shared love for supporting local lemonade stands—often texting each other with new stand sightings—the event was born from the idea: why not host all the stands in one place for the entire community to enjoy? What began in 2021 with 45 stands has grown into a summer tradition expected to feature more than 70 stands this year.
New this year is the Great BIG Lemonade Stand 5K Run and Walk, starting at 8:30 a.m. Unlike most races, this one is completely free to enter. The first 50 registrants will also receive a complimentary race shirt. Runners and walkers are encouraged to donate what they would normally spend on an entry fee by supporting the young vendors afterward. To register and reserve a shirt, email m.glotzbecker@gibsonburgohio.org.
Another unique attraction is the Water Ball Battle, coordinated with Scouting America. Organizers are hoping for a strong turnout of teams by July 1 so the event can return in full force alongside the lemonade stands.
Beyond fun and games, the Great Big Lemonade Stand is rooted in empowering youth. There is no cost for children to participate, and they keep 100% of their earnings. Many use their profits for meaningful goals—from sports fees and bike savings to charitable donations. In the process, they learn valuable lessons in communication, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
Organizers believe the event exemplifies what makes small towns like Gibsonburg so special—a big heart and a deep commitment to community. Whether you’re a business looking to sponsor or a neighbor simply coming out to support, your presence makes a difference.
