• REACH Career Education Program

  • What is REACH?
  • REACH, sponsored by The Chamber Foundation of Sandusky County, is now in its seventeenth year.  It is designed to introduce area upper-elementary school students to the “world of work” by providing Instructors from Chamber member businesses who visit schools on a monthly basis to discuss the types of jobs available at their companies and to present lessons designed to encourage them to develop life skills that will assist in preparing them to join the workforce in the future.

Instructors utilize a curriculum book developed by the education department of The Ohio State University – Marion to present a series of lessons, reinforced by hands-on activities that include, as a highlight, a visit to the Instructor’s place of business.

Some 9,000 fourth and fifth grade students throughout Sandusky County have benefited from the REACH program since its launch in seven classrooms at Green Springs School in 2003. For the 2018-2019 school year over 1,025 students in 45 classrooms in 15 schools are being “reached” by Instructors from 33 businesses!
