Speakers: Scott Root and Benjamin Frazier
Scott Root
Scott Root is the Workforce Solutions Specialist for The Kern Center at Terra State Community College, where he is responsible for promoting and selling workforce training programs and educational services offered by the college. In this role, he stays current with workforce development trends and fosters strong relationships with local businesses and community stakeholders.
Prior to joining Terra State, Scott served as Regional Sales Director at Time Staffing, overseeing operations throughout Ohio. Over his tenure with the company, he also held roles as Area Manager, Business Development Manager, Branch Manager, and Outside Staffing Specialist. He holds the Certified Staffing Professional (CSP) designation from the American Staffing Association, a credential focused on labor and employment law.
A proud Fremont, Ohio native, Scott graduated from Fremont Ross High School and went on to earn two associate degrees from Terra State Community College: an Associate of Applied Business in Business Management and an Associate of Applied Science in Total Quality Management.
Scott has held leadership roles in several local organizations, including the Sandusky County Human Resource Management Association, the Sandusky County Safety Council, and Leadership Sandusky County. He has also served as a Chamber Ambassador, Chairman of the Ambassadors Group, and was a member of the Membership and Marketing Committee for the Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce. A 2011 graduate of Leadership Sandusky County, Scott later served on its Board of Directors and also contributed to the Youth Leadership Sandusky County program.
Benjamin Frazier
Benjamin Frazier is the Program Manager for Workforce and Community Education with extensive experience in workforce development, technical training, and program management. With a strong background in welding and industrial training, he has dedicated his career to bridging the gap between education and industry, ensuring that individuals and organizations receive high-quality, skills-based training to meet workforce demands.
In his current role at Terra State Community College, Ben oversees the development and coordination of workforce education and corporate training programs, working closely with local businesses, community partners, and instructors to deliver impactful learning experiences.
With over 20 years of experience in technical education and hands-on instruction, Ben has previously served as a Welding Trainer, Technologies Teacher, and Welding Instructor, developing curricula, managing training facilities, and preparing students for industry certifications.
Ben is a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) from the American Welding Society, and is passionate about career development and lifelong learning, Ben is committed to enhancing workforce readiness, strengthening employer partnerships, and fostering skill-based education programs that drive professional and community success.
