    Job Description
    JOB SUMMARY:
    Orders and replenishes MRO and production materials to align with the production and maintenance schedules and inventory goals.  Responsibilities include (1) placing vendor orders to assure supplies and production items align with the production and maintenance schedule requirements, (2) creates internal material transfers to assure materials are in the correct location, (3) makes inventory buying decisions that minimize total cost to the company within established cost/delivery guidelines, (4) monitors and reports current and foreseen service and or quality issues, (5) maintains a positive relationship with our vendors and company associates, (6) keeps management informed at all times of all issues that could impact material availability, cost, and or schedule issues.
     
    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
    • Enters orders for materials required to meet maintenance requirements.
    • Monitors material deliveries to assure they are meeting expectations, reporting to management all variances.
    • Coordinates finished goods movement with suppliers providing secondary operations.
    • Monitors inventory levels to assure inventory will meet the company’s maintenance schedule.
    • Maintains frequent and regular communication with the company’s vendors to stay abreast of all issues that might affect supply and costs of supply.
    • Communicates to management any issue that would affect inventory cost/availability/service/quality as soon as the challenge surfaces.
    • Maintains data in the company MRO system to assure our data is current and accurate.
    • Maintains and tracks historical MRO item use.  Maintains Excel spreadsheets to track metrics as assigned.
    • Works with our vendors and warehouses to resolve inventory discrepancies.
    • Works with our vendors as required to address quality/damage/availability/delivery issues on MRO items.
    • Works with our vendors, purchasing dept. and accounting to manage invoice variances/credits.
    • Conducts weekly cycle counts to assist manufacturing inventory control.
    • Manages and/or assists in physical inventories, including on premise counts and reconciliation.
    • Communicates product/supplier concerns/opportunities to Materials Manager.
    • Assists the Purchasing team with all assignments as needed.
     
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
    • At least 2 years of inventory management, MRO purchasing and/or other purchasing related experience. 
    • A high school diploma.  Associate’s degree in a business related field is preferred.
    • Demonstrated abilities in problem solving, decision making, and conflict resolution.
    • Ability to maintain composure and reason in a fast pace changing work environment.
    • Good understanding of purchasing cost, including discounts, freight, warehousing, quality, etc.
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
    • A detailed oriented and organized person with strong analytical skills.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word knowledge and skill.  Prior AS400 experience is preferred.
    • Can manage multiple projects at the same time with timely follow up.
    • A reliable and dependable person with high work ethic.
    • A person who holds themselves accountable for responsibilities.
    • A quick learner, who follows directions, asks questions and is a good listener.
    • Positive attitude even in stressful situations.
