    Notice of Civil Service Examination

    City of Fremont, Ohio
    The City of Fremont will conduct a Civil Service Examination in order to establish an eligibility list for hiring Firefighters.
    Test Date: October 9, 2022
    Time: Physical agility testing begins at 8:00 am, registration begins at 7:30 am
    Test Site: Fremont Recreation Center, 600 Saint Joseph St. Fremont, Ohio 43420

    The written examination will follow the conclusion of the physical agility testing. The City of Fremont reserves the option to extend the written testing to another date if the number of applicants prohibits the ability to complete both testing procedures on the same date. Applicants will be notified if that is required.

    Minimum Qualifications - Citizen of the United State of America, have valid permanent resident card, or have intention to become a United States Citizen -Must be, or agree to become within a year of appointment, a resident of Sandusky County or adjacent county -Must be of a good character and have no record of convictions for a felony -Must have attained the age of eighteen (18) on or before the date of appointment and are not eligible for appointment on or after his or her forty-first (41st) birthday pursuant to ORC 124.42

    Application Information
    Applications are available by visiting the City of Fremont website at https://jobs.fremontohio.org/ and clicking on the Job Posting. Required documents can be submitted by uploading them into your application (preferred), emailing them to asears@fremontohio.org, or dropping them off at City Hall, 323 S. Front St., Fremont, OH, 43420. Applications and all required documentation MUST be submitted before noon on Friday, September 30, 2022.

    Extra Credit
    Applicants who qualify for military credit and have filed proof of said military qualification by the application deadline, shall receive an additional twenty percent (20%) credit of their composite test score, provided they have achieved a passing score without regard to this credit. Applicants who qualify for military reserve credit and have filed proof of said military qualification by the application deadline, shall receive an additional fifteen percent (15%) of their composite test score, provided they have achieved a passing score without regard to this credit.

    Please note that the candidate will be given the highest applicable credit, but credit will not be stacked. For example, a candidate with a DD214 but still in the reserves will only receive the 20% credit.

    Scoring
    The physical agility test is reported as pass or fail. If a candidate successfully completes the physical agility test in the time allotted it will be considered a pass, anything else will be considered a fail. It is a requirement that the candidate pass the physical agility test in order to move on to the written test and interview. The written test and interview will be equally weighted and all candidates passing the physical agility test will receive interviews.
