AFFILIATES TO THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The Chamber of Commerce works very closely with five other county-wide organizations.  We feel that these close affiliations make each of us individually stronger organizations, as we function with minimal cross-over, leaving each organization to serve the community in the fashion that fits their mission best.  These five organizations are:

Sandusky County - www.sandusky-county.org/

The Board of Sandusky County Commissioners consists of three members. At the present they are as follows: Brad Smith, Dan Liskai, and Terry Thatcher.

The Board of County Commissioners serves as the Administrators for the entire County. Included in their responsibilities is the formulation of a multi-million dollar budget, approval of all purchase vouchers, negotiation and approval of union contracts, pro-active long term planning, and the day-to-day handling of a wide variety of County issues.

Their web site connects to loads of information on anything about Sandusky County a visitor could want or need.  From restaurant locations, to tourist attractions to services available across the county.

Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation –  www.sanduskycountyedc.org

The Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) works in conjunction with city economic development offices across the county and the other towns and townships in the county without ED offices who want to work with new businesses interested in locating in their jurisdiction.  For over 20 years, the SCEDC has served to provide prospective businesses with information on zoning, building permit processes and financing, as well as conducting confidential research and surveys for firms interested in expanding or locating in the area.

Leadership Sandusky County www.leadershipsanduskycounty.org

The mission for Leadership Sandusky County (LSC) is to provide a learning experience which encourages successful community leadership.  They are committed to developing leaders who will improve the quality of life in Sandusky County.

LSC, founded in 1991, has aided in the development of over 300 adult community leaders. These leaders have, in turn, affected change throughout Sandusky County by volunteering their time and efforts to hundreds of community-based organizations, and serving in key roles on many non-profit and for profit boards around the county.  In 2006 the program graduated it’s first class of 8th grade students making up the now annual Youth Leadership Sandusky County (YLSC) program.

The North Coast Job Store - http://www.northcoastjobs.org/

The job store offers one-stop shopping to job seekers and employers through the location in Fremont, Ohio.

The North Coast Job Store, our communities location, exist to assist anyone who is looking for new or different employment, as well as to offer services to our area businesses. Employers have access to another resource for recruitment purposes, as well as information about labor market trends, training/job placement programs, and educational opportunities available in our area.

Safety Council

Our mission is to prevent and mitigate personal injury to employees and economic losses to member businesses and the community that arise from preventable health and safety incidents.

We seek to accomplish our mission by providing a forum to:

1.   Increase safety awareness through the examination of current safety & health issues.

2.   Encourage members and area businesses to use rules, procedures and practices daily that result in a safe and healthy working environment for all their personnel.

We coordinate monthly programs for our members and the community throughout Sandusky County.   Our monthly meetings are advertised through the local news media and members are sent an e-mail reminder 2 weeks before each meeting.

Dues & Membership Information

Membership requirements are:

1.   Dues paid in full by July 1 of each year.  If not paid by Sept. 1, membership will be cancelled.  New members who join after Sept. 30 will have their dues pro-rated.

2.   Attend at least 10 of the scheduled regular monthly meetings.  Membership is by company and not by individual name.  This allows the company to send an alternate in case the person who usually goes cannot attend.

Dues are $150 per year for one person to attend.  If a company wishes to send more than one person to each meeting, the cost is $90 per year for each additional membership from the same company.  Invoices for dues will be mailed to member companies on June 1 each year.

Meeting Information

Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month, usually during lunchtime.  The location is usually St. Francis Health Care Centre, SR 19, Green Springs.  A program about safety is presented at each meeting, followed by a short business meeting.  At some meetings, a guest company may be given time for a “Company Spotlight” to educate members about a new product or service that they provide for the safety industry.  Time is provided before and after the program to network with other safety representatives.

A typical meeting schedule is as follows:

11:00A.M.–11:30A.M.                  Registration/Networking/Lunch
11:30 A.M. – 11:45 A.M.              Business Meeting
11:45 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.              Program

Lunch is included in the cost of membership; if a member brings a guest who is not a member, the guest must pay for their lunch.
